I think what this quote is trying to say that you always have to do the right thing so your work would pay off in order to become a great person. I also think that if you don’t do what’s right you wouldn’t be able to succeed in life because you're not being truthful. I also think that if you do what right then your life would be end up with happiness and wealth in your family. In my opinion you just have to be yourself in order to succeed in life.
